NSW Homes Challenge and Showdown - 15th & 16th August and 29th August
Scrabble NSW is pleased to announce a new tournament format in which groups play rated games in peoples homes and the winner of each group proceeds to a showdown in a public venue.
The inaugural NSW Homes Challenge is scheduled for the weekend of August 15th and 16th, with the final to take place two weeks later.
Homes taking part with player lists will be published here, as will the draws and the results for each group
The following applies:
- Each home group will have a Host who decides which day to play on and the number of players
- Each home group will have 6 or 8 players
- Home groups of 6 will play a 7 game Round Robin, in which first and last games are repeats, schedule to be determined by the Host
- Home groups of 8 will play a pure Round Robin, schedule to be determined by the Host
- Each home group will have a nominated supervisor who will ensure games are played according to Australian Rules (with NSW variations) and who will submit round by round results to the Tournament Organiser
- The Host will determine COVID-safe practices to be followed in their home and convey this to players
- The Host will ensure sufficient equipment is available. Scorebooks and sets can be obtained from Scrabble NSW if necessary
- The Host will collect an entry fee of $5 from each player some of which will be paid to Scrabble NSW to help finance hire costs and prizemoney for the final Showdown on 29th August
- Players wishing to take part and not yet being part of a home group can report their name to the organiser who will attempt to place that person in a home
- Players taking part should preferably be members of Scrabble NSW for public liability insurance purposes
- Players cannot compete in different homes on consecutive days
