The Scrabble Champions Tournament

The event formerly known as the World Scrabble Championship was replaced in 2013 by the Scrabble Champions Tournament, organised by Mind Sports International and endorsed by WESPA (the World English Language Scrabble Players Association). It was a selective event using the same parameters as the WSC model.
MSI indicated that they wanted it to be a yearly event unlike the World Scrabble Championship which was held in odd numbered years. However they have now said that it has been "enhanced" to be open to anyone who pays the entrance fee.
Accordingly, the event is no longer a prestige event and there is no need to select an Australian team.
